The idea

Most note apps treat the server as the truth and your laptop as a cache. Quire flips that: your device holds the whole document, edits are recorded as small operations, and the server is just another peer that happens to be online all the time.

Merging without conflicts

Operations carry a logical clock, so two people editing the same paragraph on a train and on a boat produce the same document once they reconnect. There is no conflict dialog because there is nothing to choose between.

Small on purpose

The core is 6,000 lines of Rust on top of SQLite. It runs in 11 MB of memory, syncs 214 operations in 38 ms on a normal connection, and has a test that pulls the network cable at random moments for eight hours every night.
